After gaining a degree in illustration and printing making in Dundee, Scottish caricaturist Steve Carroll honed his skills in Majorca as editorial illustrator for local newspapers: "Baleares" and "Majorca Daily Bulletin", producing pen & ink caricatures of local personalities, celebrities and politicians, six days a week, to tight deadlines.
Steve returned to the UK with a strong drawing style which led to four years at the "The Scotsman" newspaper. His weekly portraits and caricatures of the newsworthy were a popular feature.
The Scottish National Portrait Gallery has a set of caricatures produced by Steve. Here, the studies of "Political Contemporaries" like Donald Dewar and Gordon Brown are in the galleries permanent collection.
Now based in Perth, Steve continues to illustrate regularly for newspaper and professional magazines.
